Hilma af Klint created two versions of the Tree of Knowledge series (1913-15). These works are part of her most central cycle, known as The Paintings for the Temple. The series consists of 8 watercolours. One of the versions she brought as a gift to Dornach in Switzerland, where Rudolf Steiner had established his anthroposophical center. These pictures, shown this fall at David Zwirner in New York, have never been in the possession of the Hilma af Klint Foundation. The Foundation has no plans to commercialize the works it owns. Accorrding to the FoundationĀ“s statutes the cycle The Paintings for the Temple should be kept together.
